Inspiration

Colour palette

Below is a colour mood-board that I designed for my final project, I will be using a lot of blue tones with creams and greys for my designs. Blue is very in fashion for the interior market at the minute as it is not seen as being forwarded to just the feminine market. So therefore, masculine home owners will also be interested in buying interiors for their homes and these colours will suit all.

I have chosen to add in a dash of coral and rich pink here and there to adapt my designs to their needs. To find all my colours I have used imagery and created tonal boards like the one below to fit all the colours together to make sure they match and work with each other.

A trip to Paris

On a recent trip to Paris I went into a couple of haberdasheries to inspire my colour palette and design choices. I also went to Premier vision which helped me a lot and gave me a lot of information as well as giving me influences to design from.

The photos below show some imagery of colours that suit my colour palette 'to a tee'. The only difference within these photos is that I will be adding a contract colour of pink to brighten and highlight my designs. I will be using greys and creams as my base colour.

Paris really inspired me, not just through the colours I found in this particular shop but through the delicate patterns within their architecture that reminded me of lace and also how different their culture is to ours. I took many photos within my time in Paris and I will be looking into these with depth to pull out shapes and patterns that I can draw from and adapt to create designs of my own that work within my project title. The colour palette is just the beginning.

Finished colour palette choice

I have finalised my colour palette for this final project. I will use colours for my designs similar to those below. Grey and cream shades with various blue tones and hints of dusky and bright pink to add highlights to the interior collection of woven materials that I will design and create.

Designers

Many designers and interior pieces have influenced me and my work. With my design ideas and final products I see my work being at the high end of retail; so places similar to Jigsaw and Laura Ashley. Also designer collections like Toast and MISSONI, that I have shown below.
