Jacquard Weave

Below are some of my Jacquard weave design ideas and fully finished ideas, I am really pleased with the outcome and will be continuing to work on the progress of more ideas. Some of my designs below I have also experimented with different colours but I will show these at a later date as they are still on the machine. Enjoy!

With this image below I edited it so that when it wove it was just the left half of the image but mirrored to created a ball shape, I think this worked really well. I used it as a third drop repeat and the background ended up coming out with a stripe in it but I think this also works well though  I would like to try my original idea too.

When looking at this design I think you could see it as many things. You can see a face or almost an animal illusion, I like this idea of illusions.

This one below now is my favourite weave so far, I just love the colours and the yarns used as when you look at the piece it looks so textured and structured.

The above was created from this design with slight tweaking, I love the colours I chose in the end and I think they sit well together.

Hand loom Weave

Here is where I began my hand loom weaving, This below is my first sample so far, I really like the colours and details that I chose to work with but now I have completed some of my Jacquard weaving I will try and incorporate shapes and imagery into my hand loom weaving more too.

I do really like the textures within my weave work and this incorporates with my previous knit pieces.

Knitted jumper sample

Below is my final Knitted jumper sample, I used a mixture of my samples to create the idea for this jumper. I mainly used a tuck design I created in a grey yarn to create the bodice as it was lovely once it had been washed.

For my hem, cuffs and collar I used another idea and Each design differed slightly from the other, decreasing in size depending on where they were on the jumper.

So for the hem I did a larger design (below).

Then for the cuffs I did a smaller design.

And for the collar an even smaller design as I thought it needed to be more dainty as it was only a trim.

For all of the designed edges I created a scalloped edge, This is in fashion at the minute and I thought it gave the jumper a more unique design to it.

I am really pleased with the outcome and many people have said to me that they would buy it if it was in the retail market so it makes me happy that I believe this item idea could sell.

Knitting

Here below are my 8 final knit samples, they are inspired by circles which I created in some paper I made over summer and also texture. I think they represent this and the theme summertime blues very well.

Some designs are more imagery and some are lacy and full of tucks.

The more I look at my samples, the more I like them and the more ideas and creations I think about doing. With these samples I had to also make a sample small scale jumper/cardigan idea, I used mainly one of my tuck ideas and also the knit idea from the second photo up from the bottom here. I will show the outcome soon.
